The Timber Species Used by COMODO
Douglas Fir
The most widely used species for cladding in central Europe. Good natural durability, a beautiful amber tone at installation that naturally evolves into a silvery grey. Excellent durability-to-price ratio.
Larch
Very dense and naturally resistant to insects and moisture. One of the most durable species for exterior exposure. Golden tone at installation.
Red Cedar (Western Red Cedar)
Lightweight, stable and naturally rot-resistant. Highly valued for its thermal and acoustic insulation properties. Ages naturally to an elegant silvery grey.
Acacia (Black Locust)
The most naturally durable European species. Ideal for highly exposed or damp conditions, or for cladding close to ground level.
Thermally Modified Timber
For property owners seeking a maintenance-free cladding with maximum dimensional stability. An excellent alternative to exotic hardwoods.

Does timber cladding require much maintenance?
It depends on the species chosen. Douglas fir or larch cladding can grey naturally without any treatment. To preserve the original colour, a wood stain every 5 to 10 years is recommended.
